Do you think you know everything about hunger in the world?
Hunger, it’s Africa… there’s nothing we can do… hunger, it’s drought…
To combat certain misconceptions and to remind that 854 million people (almost 1 in 7) suffer from hunger worldwide, Action Against Hunger is organizing the distribution of 15,000 “hunger-busters” or “information rations” in 20 cities across France. Passers-by will have their knowledge about world hunger tested before entering the distribution “circuit” and receiving a “hunger-buster,” a genuine kit for information and awareness. World hunger remains the greatest threat to global public health today. It is possible to reduce it. To do so, getting informed is already taking action.
Simulation of an emergency distribution as “in the field”
Action Against Hunger will thus simulate an emergency food distribution, highlighting some of the crucial steps (information, selection, registration, distribution, etc.) of such a humanitarian operation. It serves as a reminder that fighting hunger is not just about “dropping” bags of rice and that distribution is a complex process.
A national operation mirrored by the Nice delegation of ACF
The tools exist to combat hunger in the world. This scourge is at the heart of the problems for one-seventh of the world’s population. To better inform the general public, the volunteers from the Nice delegation of ACF are mobilizing for this awareness event, which will take place in Nice as well as simultaneously in 19 other cities across France: Paris, Montauban, Lyon, Nantes, Rennes, Strasbourg, Lille, Rouen, Tours, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Nancy, Cherbourg, Marseille, Bastia, Montpellier, Ajaccio, Clermont Ferrand, Brest.
