On the occasion of the United Nations Ocean Conference, Christian Estrosi unveiled the theme for the 2025 biennale in Nice. Niรงois artists will be invited to work on the theme of the oceans.
The purpose of a biennale is to introduce the contemporary art of a region to a broad audience, showcasing art in all its forms. This type of event also provides the opportunity to present established artists as well as promising new talents. It is a moment of exchange and meeting with an eclectic audience. In 2025, Nice has therefore chosen the theme of the oceans for its biennale. This is an important subject for Christian Estrosi: โOf course, the major issue of the Ocean Summit is an environmental concern. Itโs even a vital one.โ
Several exhibitions will be organized throughout the city. The program has not yet been unveiled, but the name of the coordinator for this biennale will be announced soon.ย
The King of the Oceans at the 2025 Carnival
In June 2025, France will host the United Nations Conference on the Oceans. This global event will bring together heads of state and governments from all over the world for a week. And it is Nice that has been chosen by the President of the Republic and the United Nations to host this international summit. It was therefore logical to align this theme of the oceans for this biennale. Furthermore, to set the mood in the city, the Nice Carnival in February 2025 will also pay tribute to the sea and the oceans. โTo ensure that the Niรงois fully embrace this moment and theme, from February of this year, I announced that the king of our 2025 Carnival, our most popular event, would be the King of the Oceans.โ
