An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.9 occurred this Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 6:45 PM. The epicenter was located near Nice, in the town of Contes. The tremor lasted a few seconds. According to the National Seismic Monitoring Network, the focus was at a depth of 16.3 km.

The earthquake was felt in several areas of the Alpes-Maritimes. Residents of Cannes, Grasse, and Roquebrune-Cap-Martin reported vibrations. No damage or injuries have been reported.

The area regularly experiences low-intensity seismic activity. The last notable event was on December 9, 2024. On that day, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 affected Nice. Its epicenter was located at Saint-Paul-sur-Ubaye, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.

Local authorities continue to monitor the situation even though no damage has been reported.
