Since signing the European Charter for Equality of Women and Men in Local Life, the Azure Capital and the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropole have multiplied initiatives against discrimination. A program developed in collaboration with several associations was presented this Friday.
In partnership with the association G-ADDICTION, an escape game dedicated to combating domestic and gender-based violence was presented this Friday, July 29.
The goal is to raise awareness and engage young audiences, making them significant actors in prevention efforts. This will help create conditions of mutual respect between girls and boys, inform about victim support structures, and combat harassment, cyberbullying, violence, and degrading comments.
Accompanied by Maty Diouf, Deputy Mayor of Nice (in charge of Combating Discrimination, Womenโs Rights, Humanitarian Actions, and International Solidarity) and Dr. Hervรฉ Cael, Municipal Councilor (Assistant Delegated to the Health House and Relations with Health Establishments), the program was presented to young people from associations or the School of Second Chance.
Before the opening of the escape game in the Salle Giordan of the main Town Hall in Nice, the Nice official addressed the youth:
โEmbrace these clues, try to remember some words, work on certain postures. All these mechanisms need working together to improve living together and reduce inequalitiesโฆโ
After Maty Diouf’s speech, they discovered in groups of 10 this unique escape game. They had to solve puzzles in four different spaces/settings: a classroom, a soccer stadium, a teenager’s bedroom, and a courtroom. Each room was linked to a distinct issue, exposing them to various situations involving domestic and gender-based violence.
Quentin Matton, who presides over G-ADDICTION, the association that created the escape game, discussed the choice of using this entertaining, innovative, and collaborative educational tool:
โBy breaking the codes and adopting different approaches, we can act differently for equality and against intra-family violence, all while engaging young people through interactivity, games, and educational fun. We are revolutionizing our methods by subtly using this tool, which is a big hit with young people.โ
A testimony echoed by Emrys, 18, as he exited the course:
โIโm used to doing escape games, and this one had a completely different theme than the others, but it was very interesting because it is at the heart of our society. It is very informative, intuitive, and remains a game even though the subject itself isn’t playful. The fact that itโs turned into a game draws our interest.โ
The president of the G-ADDICTION association also explained the reason for this installation in the heart of the Town Hall:
โEquality is a foundational value of the republic. Promoting equality between women and men, fighting against discrimination and violence here at the Town Hall, in the Municipal Council room, is a strong gesture.โ
Funded by the FEDER within the framework of the European project ProSol FEMMES and led by the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropole, this program is adaptable to different audiences while being adjustable depending on the targeted location. In the upcoming weeks, it will be set up in several Azure locations.
