The styles are varied for this 4th edition, sometimes even hard to pinpoint given the out-of-the-box musical performances. The band Dead Jazz, powered by the Belmondo brothers, leads the audience to California psychedelic rock: the Grateful Dead. These musical explorers, these essayists of notes, have nonetheless puzzled the uninitiated. This is also true for the band Magma, which completely breaks away from musical clichรฉs, trying out every note like an abstract painting. Opposite the Matisse Museum, which pays tribute to the master of Fauvism, Magma is somewhat the Matisse of music.
Gentleness in a Brutal World
The calm and smile of Priscilla Ahn provided the audience with a good dose of fulfillment after Magma’s performance. As a singer-songwriter, this 24-year-old American brings freshness and a unique vocal timbre, offering soft and folk music.
On the other hand, Erykah Badu got the audience at the Cimiez arenas grooving with her unruly soul rhythm. Talented and original, she lives her music and enjoys dancing to her compositions. Already a four-time Grammy Award winner, this American will take you underground in her latest album “Worldwide Underground”.
