An example of “good administration” by the City of Nice: Online tracking of Building Permit applications

The City of Nice simplifies administrative procedures, and that’s great!
Nice Premium in its good resolutions for 2011 had expressed the wish that the city council of Nice would further direct its action towards e-administration to facilitate bureaucratic procedures for citizens, or at least for those who regularly use computing tools.

This announcement shows that this path is open and that it is not impossible to provide positive responses to the population’s requests. Sometimes small gestures are worth more than grand speeches!

nicefr.jpg The City of Nice continues its effort to bring citizens closer to its administration. A new milestone is reached today with building permit applications!

Indeed, Nice has created a web service, which each applicant for a Building Permit can consult to know the real-time progress of their application.
This new system will satisfy individuals and professionals alike, wanting instant and quick access to information.

To this end, upon submission of a Building Permit application, a confidential code will be provided to its author. The person will then simply need to connect to the City of Nice’s website – www.nice.fr, under the ‘Urban Planning’ section, ‘Building Permits‘.

Using the confidential code, each petitioner will have access to all related information regarding their case: deadlines, completeness, ongoing consultations, contact details of the service and the officer handling the case…

This service is also open for prior declarations for less significant works.
