The Cimiez Monastery is hosting a very interesting exhibition on the Virgin Mary throughout the month of May.
This month is dedicated to her, and Brother Antoine has gathered various statuettes of the Virgin. They come from everywhere, from around the world. Some are simple with clean lines, others more traditional, and yet others where the artist’s Faith is expressed.
From France, Italy, Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, from everywhere he has assembled these statues of Mary, mother of humanity, in the small cloister. They are displayed in cases with texts and poems.
The County of Nice is particularly honored, as devotion to Mary is deeply rooted there. Visitors will be enveloped by the magic of words and will think of Saint John, moving from one virgin to another, visiting in turn Fatima, Lourdes, La Salette, the high country of Nice with Our Lady of Fenestres. A journey alongside Mary, the mother of God, a Virgin Mary in all her forms.
The cloister is perfectly suited for this exhibition, a place of reflection and meditation. Mary guides us and leads us to bliss, to prayer, and to the knowledge of mysteries and the rosary. This exhibition is open to the public and can be admired every day in the small cloister of the monastery where the brothers are not absent but probably in prayer, offering an opportunity to join them while admiring the work of various artists and sculptors.
These Madonnas are made of wood, papier-mรขchรฉ, volcanic lava, and other surprising materials.
