A Turkish Airlines 767 caused quite a scare on August 27 by flying over rooftops at an altitude of barely 180 meters.
An investigation, opened on Monday, August 29, was conducted by the Directorate of Civil Aviation Security (DSAC) in coordination with the Directorate of Air Navigation Services (DSNA) to determine the exact circumstances of this incident.
The DGAC has now submitted its report, which was released by the Prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes: “The crew of flight THY9GQ did not follow the originally planned trajectory for landing at Nice-Côte d’Azur Airport. Upon noticing the deviation from the trajectory, the crew executed a go-around, which is in accordance with the applicable procedures. It should be noted that the specifics of Nice Airport require the crew’s specific knowledge of the approach procedures.”
Following this report, the DSAC has issued a report of non-compliance with environmental regulations, enabling the airport nuisance control authority (ACNUSA) to initiate the procedure outlined by the Code of Transport.
Conclusion: more fear than harm.
