The most motivated individuals assert that voting in the regional elections is what concerns us on a daily basis. Every structure surrounding us, every approach for assistance in training, education, or even transport, comes from the regions.
As for casting a blank vote, it is not even considered by some residents. A woman in her sixties living in Nice her entire life recounts: “Nice is a big city, and I admit that I often feel afraid when walking around late in the evening. Even though Estrosi has installed many cameras, for me the only alternative to insecurity is to vote for the National Front.”
So yes, it seems that there are still a few determined voters in the first round. However, the big winner of these elections is undoubtedly abstention.
On Sunday evening, at the headquarters of the National Front and the Socialist Party, the crowd is not present either. However, a few activists arrive after the results and the count. But in both camps, there is only one refrain: “The election is a success but not yet a victory.”
