Andy Delort (Montpellier) soon in Nice?

Latest News

As OGC Nice continues its search for an experienced striker to complete its squad, the Montpellier forward, Andy Delort, appears to have been chosen.

Last week, we discussed Christophe Galtier’s desire to recruit a striker to compete with Kasper Dolberg and Amin Gouiri. In this article, we introduced the two main candidates for the position at Gym: Burak Yilmaz (Lille) and Andy Delort (Montpellier).

It seems that Gym has decided between these two players, and it is indeed Andy Delort, the Algerian international (10 caps – 2 goals) who should join the capital of the French Riviera.
On Friday afternoon, the coach of the Aiglons discussed in more detail the possible arrival of the Montpellier player: โ€œI had never heard of Delort coming to Nice. Once I was told that, if itโ€™s a door that opens, obviously Iโ€™m going to ask the club to open the door a bit more because Andy is a player Iโ€™ve known for a long time, he knows Ligue 1 well and has more maturity than our forwards.โ€

The 29-year-old player likely played his last match with the Paillade club against Lorient. He delivered a superb assist to Stephan Mavididi in the 58th minute and scored a header in the 83rd minute, his second in three games. He was later replaced by Florent Mollet in the 88th minute and left the field in tears to a standing ovation from the Montpellier crowd, a sign confirming his departure.

According to the newspaper “L’รฉquipe,” the Sรฉtois with over 200 Ligue 1 matches has agreed with OGC Nice on the terms of his future contract, which would be for 3 years plus an optional year.

The daily also reveals that Laurent Nicollin, the president of MHSC, had seen several clubs interested in his player: Rubin Kazan, OM, and indeed OGC Nice. But it is the Nice club that took the lead, first with an initial offer of 8 million rejected. They then raised the bid to 10 million euros, accepted by President Nicollin.

The player should now arrive on the French Riviera in the coming days to undergo his medical examination. Valรจre Germain, who left Marseille freely, is expected to replace him in Hรฉrault.
