Following a motorcycle accident, Benjamin Landier had half of his left foot amputated. However, it hasn’t stopped him from continuing high-level sports. Today, the Nice native has reoriented himself and is collecting successes: 2011 World Champion in para-triathlon and cross-triathlon, 2011 French Road Champion, 2010 French Champion in time trials.

A very busy month

This week, Benjamin is undergoing training in Bordeaux before flying off to the European Cup of team track cycling. He will then continue with the French Track Championship in Bordeaux and the World Championships in Los Angeles, USA. A month filled with training camps and competitions, all in pursuit of securing a ticket for the London Paralympic Games.

Final verdict on July 4

“In any case, the federation only sends medal contenders to competitions.” Let’s be clear: places are scarce, and Benjamin is in it to win! However, the required standards for direct selection are very tough. “In Los Angeles, I will need to perform a very good time,” Benjamin explains. Otherwise, he will have to score as many points as possible until this summer. Indeed, on July 4, the French Handisport Federation will announce the official list of athletes for the London Games.
