The annual meeting of the Côte d’Azur Smart Grids Club was an opportunity for the club to review the year 2016 and look forward to 2017.

In the presence of Jean-Pierre Savarino, the president of the Nice Côte d’Azur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), the club held its annual meeting to review its year 2016.

A dense 2016. Among the achievements were the Guide for Smart Grids Ready Buildings, the route of the Côte d’Azur Smart Grids expertise, a mapping of Smart Grids professions, not to mention the organization of conferences such as “The Côte d’Azur, a pilot territory for connected neighborhoods,” “Energy efficiency solutions for the industry of the future,” and participation in events of local significance (Climate Plan Trophies of the Alpes-Maritimes Department) and national scale (Innovative City 2016, IBS 2016, etc.).

For 2017, the objectives are both to “understand the requirements of decision-makers to act and succeed together” and to strengthen the participation of members or attract new ones (from design to operation and use of buildings). The next steps need to be coordinated: continuation of the SGR recommendation guide, mapping of Smart Grids training needs, extension of the local expertise route, and enhancement of the “Energy Portal for Business” as a showcase, to name just a few.

The club members then unveiled the new organization of the club, namely the different offices and commissions.

What is the Côte d’Azur Smart Grids Club?

The Nice Côte d’Azur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) led a local network formed by companies in the sector between 2010 and 2014. At the end of this period, in November 2014, it formalized this sector by creating the Côte d’Azur Smart Grids Club.

The Côte d’Azur has positioned itself at the forefront of “smart grids,” the intelligent electricity networks. They will transform electricity production and distribution in the coming years. As early as 2010, the Nice Côte d’Azur CCI was interested in this subject, which was very new at the time. In partnership with the Caisse des Dépôts, it conducted a study to define the sector with an action plan (2010 and 2015) developed in collaboration with the Métropole Côte d’Azur and the EPA Plaine du Var, as well as a consortium of 36 industrial and institutional partners.
