“Stéphan Joly is like an elf who thinks he’s Arnold Schwarzenegger! For nearly 1 hour and 30 minutes, he raises his voice, challenges our anxieties, and fearlessly confronts the great mystery of love… A lost cause! His character seems even more disarmed than Buster Keaton and more tender than Bourvil.
He can play the piano and use his voice to try to confuse matters, but it’s as obvious as a house: Stéphan Joly is a soft-hearted romantic.
From his entrance, we dive headfirst into his world full of humor, bad faith, perfectly chosen words (he’s a perfectionist… I can attest to that!), and songs that aren’t as ridiculous as they may seem, although…
Working with artists of the caliber and demand of Stéphan Joly, as I have with Armelle, Laurent Baffie, François Rollin, and today Patrick Timsit or even the musical comedy Rabbi Jacob, is not always easy!
Anyway, in this profession, we rest when we’re dead. The only thing we ask is to laugh as much as possible before then! And believe me, with him, I already have half the ticket for the final journey!”
