This Monday, June 20, 2011, at 9 PM at Place Masséna –
Apollon makes his grand return to Place Masséna!
The Fountain of the Sun will be restored to the people of Nice in its entirety, as it was originally, with its statue of Apollon, the Greek god of singing, music, and poetry, standing 7 meters tall and reigning over his five planets.
Apollon will once again be accompanied by Earth, Mars, Mercury, Saturn, and Venus on this Monday, June 20, the eve of the first day of summer.
Christian Estrosi will press the buzzer, triggering the unveiling of the statue. The unified Fountain of the Sun will then be illuminated and filled with water, accompanied by the musical performance of the Saxophone Ensemble from the Nice Conservatory led by Heinz Schommers, Music Director.
