Frédéric Mitterrand, Minister of Culture and Communication, has appointed Jean-Pierre Simon as the director of Villa Arson in Nice.
This position became vacant following the resignation of Yves Robert, who was appointed a year ago.
Jean-Pierre Simon was previously the assistant director in charge of visual arts at the general directorate for artistic creation of the Ministry of Culture and Communication. He was formerly the director of the National School of Art in Dijon.
Villa Arson carries out a series of actions dedicated to contemporary art: a national higher school of art, dedicated to the most experimental practices, an internationally renowned contemporary art center, and a significant media library.
Moreover, it develops a residency policy that allows it to welcome six artists each year, either by invitation or project, making it a unique institution and one of the most prestigious establishments in our country.
