He’s been seen on TV, heard on the radio. We think we know everything about him from the newspapers. Now he’s stepping on stage for the first time to tell the truth. Arthur in real life! A fresh and no-holds-barred stand-up with Arthur like you’ve never seen him before!
As a paparazzi of his own life, he finally unveils his acidic and hilarious daily routine in pure self-deprecation. Because after all, his life is “A sympathetic disaster”! Everything we dream of knowing about him but never dare to ask. That’s Arthur for real! And what if we try to understand why this endangerment, why this new challenge? He answers with a smile that “Ships are always safer in the harbor, but that’s not what they are built for…” Arthur, real name Jacques Essebag, was born on March 10, 1966, in Casablanca, Morocco.
With a Baccalauréat B in hand, he began studying law, which he never finished, while starting out in radio. The director of RFM hired him in 1987. He then became a host on Kiss FM in 1988 and on Skyrock in 1989. In 1991, he made a name for himself on Fun Radio where he proclaimed himself “the dumbest host on the FM band”. He arrived on TF1 with The Impossible Show and on Europe 1 in September 1992. His tenure on the main channel was short-lived. In 1993, he published a book with Michel Lafon, but it was a flop.
He returned to television and landed on France 2 on September 17, 1994, with a show that still exists today, although it has changed channels: The Children of TV. Arthur also created The Saturday Night Fury, a show based on the concept of karaoke.
The host made his return to TF1 in September 1996 and hosted the same shows he was already presenting on France 2. He became a producer and created his own production company: Case Productions with his partner Stéphane Courbit. After several other changes, the star host of TF1 found himself back on Fun Radio in the fall of 2000. On television, he still presents The Children of TV, but also Dream of a Day, a program whose mission is to fulfill the dreams of viewers and Dream of an Evening which features singing candidates.
