AS Monaco Basket has announced the arrival of two new recruits in recent days. Players who join the Rock to strengthen the bench.
The bench of the Roca Team is getting stronger! EuroBasket, which concludes this Sunday, has not prevented the club from signing two new players in recent days. Experienced basketball players have joined to bolster the Monegasque collective with a single goal in mind: to win the French Championship and repeat this season’s success in the Euroleague.
The first recruit is Nemanja Nedovic. He comes from Red Star Belgrade, Serbia. The 34-year-old shooting guard has vast experience in the Euroleague, with a total of 229 games played. The Serbian is an excellent three-point shooter. A significant addition for Vassilis Spanoulis.
He also has international experience with his country, Serbia. He was part of the team that was a finalist in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. He also participated in three European championships, the most recent in 2022.
In an interview available on the club’s website, the Serbian shooting guard does not hide his ambitions: “I really want to win all the competitions. Of course, the Euroleague, it’s difficult, very difficult to reach the Final Four year after year. But I think we have great quality and all the necessary tools to reach the Final Four and hopefully achieve something special this year.โ
David Michineau, the “French touch”
The second recruit will play the point guard role. Frenchman David Michineau joins the ranks of the Roca Team. The 31-year-old point guard comes from Turkey and the club Bursaspor, where he spent the last two years. A player who knows the French Championship perfectly, having spent nine seasons there.
The Frenchman also arrives to strengthen the Monegasque bench. This recruitment was also made to comply with the regulations. Indeed, in Betclic Elite, each club is allowed to have a maximum of six non-JFL players on the team sheet. As a reminder, JFL players are locally trained players, meaning they have played in France for a minimum of four years between the ages of 12 and 21. The experienced point guard meets this criterion, becoming the sixth JFL player of the Rocher’s squad.
The native of Les Abymes in Guadeloupe expresses his joy at signing the contract. “I am really happy to join this club of Monaco. This is really an opportunity for me to reach the highest level in a club that is one of the best in Europe.โ
Two experienced recruits that will allow Vassilis Spanoulis to rest his stars Mike James and Matthew Strazel.
