“Solidarity Nice Haiti, all together for Haiti,” the slogan of last week launched by Christian Estrosi, continued Saturday night at the Eucalyptus gymnasium. The president of ASPTT Nice Handball Claude Israël invited the public during a day specially dedicated to the earthquake victims. A raffle and auction sales of t-shirts were on the program with the prime-time event of the National 1 women’s match: Nice – Nîmes.
“Successful Haiti Special”
At the end of the evening, Claude Israël, together with Gilles Veissière, deputy for sports of the city of Nice, did not hide his satisfaction: “It’s a successful Haiti special. We hope to present a nice check to the mayor. People were generous.” On the sports side, the same happiness as the girls won 29 to 25. “They found the resources to win. We are lucky to have a great goalkeeper who gives the team confidence. The promotion project is still on track. There are eight games left, these are eight finals for us!”
An important victory for promotion
For ASPPT handball goalkeeper Valérie Nicolas, the victory was important: “It wasn’t easy against girls who train more than twice as much as we do. We got scared in the second half by losing balls and making repositioning errors. We managed to win and we are going to give it our all for the promotion.”
