Associations are mobilizing against menstrual insecurity.

On October 17 and 18, the association Rรจgles ร‰lรฉmentaires, the Women’s Foundation, and the Monoprix Foundation are organizing a national collection of period products. In Nice, the operation will take place at the Monoprix Garibaldi and Monoprix Jean-Mรฉdecin stores.

Buying menstrual protection remains difficult for nearly 4 million people in France. This situation, known as period poverty, particularly affects women without sufficient resources. The lack of access to basic hygiene products has direct consequences on health, but also on dignity and social life.

Since 2015, the association Rรจgles ร‰lรฉmentaires has been working to address this issue. It has already collected over 24 million period products. In partnership with the Women’s Foundation and the Monoprix Foundation, they are launching a new edition of the national collection #RรจglesDeSurvie on October 17 and 18.

In Nice, two collection points are set up: the Monoprix Garibaldi, located on the square of the same name, and the Monoprix on avenue Jean-Mรฉdecin (Victoire). Volunteers will welcome residents from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. to collect donations of new pads, tampons, or panty liners. The products will then be redistributed to local associations and medico-social structures that support women in precarious situations.

The organization relies on the participation of volunteers. Teams will take turns in each store to inform the public and facilitate the collection. Residents are invited to help, even for a few hours, or simply to drop off a product.

A simple gesture for an essential need

The #RรจglesDeSurvie collection is taking place this year in 71 Monoprix stores in France. It is part of a large-scale awareness and solidarity effort. The aim is to make a still little-known reality visible while providing concrete help.

During the last edition, organized in June 2024, more than 322,000 period products were collected. These donations helped about 16,000 women. Over 650 volunteers were mobilized for this national operation. The products were then distributed to 70 beneficiary associations and structures.

The donations collected are intended for grassroots structures: shelters, organizations helping the homeless, facilities for women victims of violence, or food distributions. In Nice, partner associations like the LGBTQIA+ Cรดte dโ€™Azur center play an essential role in redistribution and linking with beneficiaries.

The organizers hope to extensively mobilize the people of Nice. The success of the collection relies on the participation of as many people as possible. By donating a few period products or a few hours of volunteering, everyone can contribute to reducing an inequality that is still too prevalent.
