We announced this 7-a-side soccer match to you, and we are very pleased to inform you that “Le Tournoi de L’Espoir” (The Tournament of Hope), organized at the Charles Ehrmann Stadium in Nice on May 23, 2010, by the Association Le Chemin Des Rêves, was a great success, allowing for its continuation with a second edition next year.
Mr. Christophe LENOBLE from the Association and Mr. Nicolas RODA from the Sports Directorate welcomed the teams from 9 a.m., who played the group matches throughout the morning.
After a one-hour lunch break filled with joyful camaraderie, the matches resumed at 2 p.m. for the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final.
This first Tournament of Hope was won by the SAMU 06 team, followed by the Municipal Police, and in third place, the Firefighters of Nice.
Following this tournament, a raffle was held allowing 27 players to win numerous prizes offered by partners.
To conclude this beautiful event, a buffet was offered by the Nice City Hall, and the speech made by Dr. Joëlle MARTINAUX, representing Mr. Christian ESTROSI, Mayor of Nice, assured us of the Mayor’s support for this event and the possibility of its renewal for a second edition next year.
At the end of this enjoyable day, a positive outcome emerged with a participation of around a hundred players who represented all emergency services: SAMU, NATIONAL POLICE, MUNICIPAL POLICE, PRIVATE AMBULANCES, FIREFIGHTERS, etc.
Mrs. GOBEAUX and many volunteers from the association ran the “Le Chemin Des Rêves” booth to inform the public about the purpose of this association.
All funds raised are donated to this association, which hopes to see many of you for the second edition of the Tournament of Hope next year.
