This year, the Escoffier Museum of Culinary Art is celebrating the 90th anniversary of the National Society of the Best Craftsmen of France through a photographic exhibition, sponsored by Philippe Joannรจs, President of the MOF Southern Region โ Director of culinary events at the Sociรฉtรฉ des Bains de Mer.*
The “One of the Best Craftsmen of France” (MOF) competition, created in 1924 by Lucien Klotz, an art critic and journalist (1876-1946), affirms French expertise and its renown by highlighting superior quality craftsmanship.
The 1st National Exhibition of Work was organized at the City Hall of Paris. 200 masterpieces were exhibited there, and the title of “MOF” was awarded for the first time on January 31, 1925, to 144 laureates.
In 1929, the National Society of MOF was created by Renรฉ Petit to enhance the diploma and create a network of laureates.
