The National Sports Museum dives into the history of freediving on the occasion of the AIDA World Championships 2019, which will take place in the bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer from September 2 to 15.
More than 140 athletes from 40 countries will compete in this legendary location, the birthplace of global freediving, which will host this competition for the 5th time in its history.
On this occasion, the National Sports Museum pays tribute to this mythical discipline, practiced since antiquity, and to the men who have made its history. From Claude Chapuis and Joseph Strazzanti, founders of the world championships in 1996, to Guillaume Nery, multiple world record holder, filmmaker, and star of a music video by singer Beyonce, the main protagonists of French and world freediving have collaborated with the National Sports Museum to make this exhibition as rich as possible.
An unprecedented exhibition, inaugurated yesterday and open to visitors until September 22,
Featuring a unique collection, numerous testimonies, and stunning photos, the exhibition “A Full Breath – A History of Freediving” will be accessible for free in the museum’s reception hall.
