Until August 6, 2011
The Sandrine Mons Gallery is pleased to present the installation Suitecombologique this summer, a four-handed project at the intersection of two practices: painting and design.
As part of the event Contemporary Art and the Cรดte d’Azur โ a territory for experimentation, 1951-2011, the gallery has given carte blanche to Cรฉdric Teisseire. In turn, he has invited Stรฉphanie Marin โ one of the region’s few design creators โ to share the exhibition space at LOFT.
In this space, typically dedicated to design but where carefully selected works by the gallery have already intertwined elegantly many times, Stรฉphanie Marin and Cรฉdric Teisseire propose a Suitecombologique, a place, an idea, a theater of operations where their practice and research intersect.
Through this form of neologism, the aim is not to oppose the intents of these activities but rather to identify their distinctions as well as affinities.
By engaging with their elaboration processes and creative principles, this Suitecombologique suggests outlining a virtuous circle that reveals a zone of complicity between the material and the immaterial.
A selection of monochromes in shades and reflections will converse in the showroom windows with the modular compositions Le Hasard, a limited series of new pieces by Stรฉphanie Marin for SMARIN.
About:
Established in 2005, the Sandrine Mons Gallery is a meeting place for modern and contemporary art enthusiasts and collectors.
Its temporary exhibitions alternate between showcasing original works by major artists on the international scene (Alechinsky, Malanga, Paladino, Oppenheim, Coplans…), the young contemporary creation (Charley Case, Cรฉdric Tanguy, Neven Allanicโฆ) and established artists (Piotr Klemensiewicz, Georges Meurant, Henri Olivierโฆ).
In September 2008, the Sandrine Mons Gallery left its original exhibition space on Dalpozzo Street.
This nomadic interlude provides an opportunity to contemplate a new gallery project.
The relationships with contemporary artists and the gallery’s clients continue at our partner LOFT, where the gallery maintains a presence, and our website is regularly updated with new items.
A selection of works by our artists is permanently displayed at our partner Loft, 25 rue de la Buffa in Nice.
