– COLOMBE by Jean Anouilh | Michel Fagadeau | Anny Duperey
A biting and whimsical comedy by Jean Anouilh, admirably directed by Michel Fagadeau and performed by talented actors. Anny Duperey, stunning and haughty, her daughter Sara Giraudeau who embodies Colombe with finesse and accuracy, the irresistible Jean-Paul Bordes as “Poet-Darling,” Fabienne Chaudat, Benjamin Bellecour… and of course, Rufus, who is impressive in his role as the troupe’s traitor.
Mid-19th century, during the years of the Boulevard du Crime. Julien leaves for military service and entrusts his beloved Colombe to his mother whom he despises, the fearsome Madame Alexandra, a famous actress. There goes Colombe, plunged into the life of the theater… a charming ingénue quickly courted.
If the plot unfolds in a theater, it is because the theater is an ideal setting to talk about life. With its joys, frustrations, resentments, madness, showmanship, and generosity… Under the pen of Jean Anouilh, the human comedy becomes even more human, sparing no one and nothing. A delightful gallery of portraits, a true theatrical delight!
