The young athlete from Nice Cรดte d’Azur Athlรฉtisme, Rouguy Diallo, became the junior world champion in triple jump on the night from Saturday to Sunday in Eugene, United States. Mentored by the senior world champion, Teddy Tamgho, the 19-year-old from Nice becomes the 3rd best French performer of all time.
The achievement went unnoticed, but it deserves a nod. In the east of the United States, in the state of Oregon, an athlete from Nice became the junior world champion in triple jump. It was 2 a.m., in the night from Saturday to Sunday, when Rouguy Diallo took off on the Hayward Field track. Teddy Tamgho’s protรฉgรฉ went very far, achieving a jump measured at 14.44m with a more than favorable wind (+3.3 meters per second) but not official for it to be considered a record.
“My little Rouguy, junior world champion, 14.44m. A proud and happy coach, thank you my little one.” exclaimed Tamgho on Twitter after the title was won by the athlete from Nice.
In the continuation of her beautiful contest, Rouguy Diallo jumped 14.20m, this time with a legal wind. This is the new junior and hope French record and the third-best French performance of all time.
“I wasn’t the favorite before the competition. I didn’t expect to win the gold medal. I am very happy because there is the achievement, the French record (14.20m) that comes with the title.” smiled the new junior world champion.
Rouguy Diallo, registered with Nice Cรดte d’Azur Athlรฉtisme, trains at the PACA Center for Popular Education and Sports in Boulouris (CREPS). During these World Championships, she was accompanied by her coach, Laurence Bily, and an outstanding advisor, the world triple jump champion from Moscow 2013, the Frenchman Teddy Tamgho. There is no doubt that in the coming years, we will hear more about the athlete from Nice.
