Authentic, eccentric, magical: It’s not Classic!

With unexpected lyricism on his part, General Council President Eric Ciotti presented the 2012 edition of “C’est pas Classique,” the 8th of its kind.
“The light, colorful, and unusual hot air balloons on the poster set the tone. Coming from the Alpes-Maritimes, but also from Russia, England, and other parts of the world, the artists invited by the General Council to the 2012 C’est pas classique festival will make their mark.

pas_classique_2012.jpg It embodies the spirit of this event, a music gathering that is certainly presented in its classical form but spiced with touches of novelty, as they bring to life at the Acropolis Palace, in churches, and in squares witnessing the rich hours of our territory’s past,” he said in the presence of Dr. Alain Frére, Vice-President of the General Council in charge of culture, and Jacques Vidal, who represented the City of Nice.

Indeed, the lineup presented is tantalizing, with the presence of major classical ensembles, the regional Cannes PACA orchestra, the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, the Nice Baroque Ensemble, choirs and chorales, solo singers, and also the musicians always faithful to C’est pas classique.

But in reality, the key to the success of the event lies in the opportunity offered to a varied audience, not necessarily with musical knowledge, to approach and encounter what the German philosopher Immanuel Kant called “the language of emotions.”

Over 5 days, nearly 100 concerts performed by 1000 artists will offer this opportunity to more than 60,000 spectators (will the 2011 record be broken again?) and will make ‘C’est pas Classique’ the flagship event of the year-end.

The young will not be forgotten either: 2500 middle school students and their teachers will be associated with a tailored program.
