A new art gallery opened its doors in Nice on June 30th under the name Authentic Nice Gallery.
Authentic Nice Gallery is above all a story of passion, that of Guy Plestan and his partner Nadia Aourac for art for over 30 years. Originally from Nice, they are lovers of artistic creation and wanted to open a space dedicated to the exhibition of artworks.

The Gallery
Located on Catherine Sรฉgurane street, right in the heart of Nice’s Antiquaires district, this atypical and unique place is a space dedicated to the exhibition of works by modern and contemporary artists.
A place for exchange and curiosity, the gallery is open to everyone: art novices, enthusiasts, collectors, or professionals. Each visitor will be welcomed with special attention.
The gallery is housed in a historic building constructed in 1815, and during refreshing renovations, they discovered an underground space that housed old olive oil vats. Covered with period red terracotta tiles, they were used for storing oil extracted from the Niรงoise caillette. The precious liquid was then shipped directly via the Port of Nice, a true hub for the olive oil trade in the Mediterranean at the end of the 19th century. They wished to restore these vats while respecting their original appearance. This provides a very unique and authentic exhibition space, in addition to the 140m2 of white walls open onto Sรฉgurane street.
The Works
Authentic Nice Gallery houses artists from the 20th and 21st centuries from the region and beyond. The exhibited pieces come from different movements such as abstract, figurative, and urban art.
Before the works are presented in this gallery, they involve spontaneous meetings with artists, studio visits, and artistic crushes.
The Artists
The gallery exhibits established artists, but not only; Guy and Nadia also wanted to highlight contemporary creators who have seduced them through their personality, talent, and originality. They operate on human and artistic crushes.
Nivรจse, an essential figure in the Nice art scene. Collages, assemblages, cutouts, she works with wood and metal to play with light and shadows.
Guichou Jo, born in Antibes, her creations are midway between narrative figuration and free figuration, blending humor, delicacy, and nostalgia.
Rubinstein Nicol creates works that show both the envelope and the structure of things, as if to see beyond appearances. He is notably known for his Mickey skeletons.
Victor Vasarely is a visual artist recognized as the father of optical art. His art is represented by juxtapositions of colors and geometric shapes that contrast with one another.
