Since Saturday, April 9, 2011, Nice Côte d’Azur has been the first community in France to implement a car-sharing service exclusively with electric cars on this scale. By the end of 2013, 210 electric vehicles will be available in car-sharing distributed across 70 stations throughout the Nice Côte d’Azur territory.
Nice Côte d’Azur was the first community in France to set up a car-sharing service with electric vehicles. The service now offers 150 cars across nine municipalities in the Metropolis (Nice; Cagnes-sur-Mer, Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Vence, La Trinité, Colomars; Carros; Beaulieu; Villefranche).
As of May 2013, Nice Côte d’Azur airport (Terminal 2) will also be served, and the last stations (to reach the 70 planned in the project) will be put into service progressively by the end of 2013. The service will then be fully operational with 210 cars. Everything has been thoroughly planned to align with the territory’s electrical system optimization policy.
Nice Côte d’Azur contributes to the development of the 70 stations at a cost of €40,000 each, totaling €2,800,000, half of which is covered by the State, as the Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur is one of the 12 projects selected by the State to experiment with this initiative.
The Metropolis also provides an operational subsidy to the delegate, which decreases over time depending on commercial revenue. This proactive approach is necessary to support the change in mentality, encouraging people to favor soft transportation modes. The average operating cost for the Metropolis is €1.4 million per year.

- 96.2% of the surveyed members say they are satisfied or very satisfied with the Autobleue service! (81.40% a year ago and 78.40% in spring 2011)
Since the service launch, Autobleue cars have traveled 1,170,000 km over 120,000 hours of usage.
Currently, there are approximately 2,600 uses per month, with an average duration of 3 hours per outing. The most frequented stations are located in the hyper-center of Nice.
A vehicle fleet that prioritizes electric options
The Metropolis Nice Côte d’Azur and the City of Nice maintain a vehicle fleet to provide public services in various areas (cleanliness; sweeping; waste collection; green spaces).
This eco-responsible proactive policy primarily concerns:
▪ Two-wheelers, with the acquisition of 15 electric scooters to date.
▪ Vehicles with the deployment of 18 “goupil” type vehicles, 23 mia, 10 kangoo ze, 2 fluence ze, and 2 hybrid vehicles (citroën and peugeot).
