Due to the upcoming European elections, which will take place on June 9, 2024, the French will have to elect their European deputies. In its European campaign, the Socialist Party “Awakening Europe” calls for respect for people’s rights. The socialists are also fighting for the revision or even the abolition of the Dublin agreements. They aim to implement solidarity on welcoming migrants at a European level and achieve a fair and balanced control of border management.
If the Socialist Party takes the lead in the European elections starting in June, the Dublin procedure will be abolished. Thus, the responsibility for landings at the borders of the European Union would fall under European authorities. “It’s a battle for the entire left, a speech of respect for equality and constitutional principles,” explains Arthur Delaporte, the socialist deputy from Calvados.
The issue of immigration at the heart of the challenges
“Our political fight is for others; we must continue to fight to defend the principles of humanity,” declares Arthur Delaporte, the socialist deputy from Calvados. A project to support migrants in professional life, education, and for minors is under discussion. The Socialist Party “Awakening Europe” truly emphasizes respect for international law.
The issue of housing is one of the primary problems in Nice, with limited night shelter facilities offering 80 places for men, 20 for women, two places for couples, and none for families.
“Why do we fight this battle? We fight it because it is utterly undignified, contrary to all international and European conventions,” adds Arthur Delaporte, referring to immigration and the conditions he discovered at the Menton Garavan border.
