Each year, the City of Nice and the Rectorate of the Nice Academy reward the best students from schools, middle schools, and high schools where Niçois is taught, as well as candidates who achieved the highest scores in the oral and written exams of the 2014 nissart baccalaureate.
This Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at 5 p.m., around thirty of them will be received in the Municipal Council Chamber of the City Hall by Jean-Luc Gag, Municipal Councillor delegated to the Niçois Language, and Steve Betti, representing the Nice Academy in the presence of Lauriano Azinheirinha, Deputy for Education, Serge Chiaramonti, President of the Federation of Associations of the County of Nice and Jean-Philippe Fighiera, President of the Escola de Bellanda.
In 2014, more than 300 students took the Niçois exam in the department.
“To know one’s roots, one must know one’s language; it is clear that the number of high school students taking the Niçois exams in the baccalaureate is steadily increasing. As an integral part of world heritage, it is our duty to save regional languages which are the foundation of our cultures.”
