As France faces the threat of the Delta variant, in Nice, Christian Estrosi is multiplying initiatives to limit health and especially economic damage.
The latest project is the creation of the “Vaccine Confidence Label.” Besides reassuring customers about the health status of the establishment, the goal of this label is to find a way to “not put the economy on hold,” said Christian Estrosi. This label affixed at the entrance of stores and businesses is a guarantee of a fully vaccinated staff. The first establishment to receive it is the Pellegrino house. “The city hall has done everything for four months, we were prioritized for vaccination even though we didnโt meet the age criteria. The organization was impeccable,” confides Jean-Michel Japuis, manager of Maison Pellegrino.
The “Vaccine Confidence Label,” a guarantee of a flourishing economy in the Covid-19 era?
A dozen shop owners have already subscribed to have the label affixed at their establishments’ entrances. According to the mayor, “a retailer who wants to be attractive and generate revenue would benefit more from having this label on their storefront.” He adds that “with summer tourism, vaccinated foreigners will come to the area and will be more inclined to enter stores with the ‘Vaccine Confidence Label’ than those without it.” These are recommendations he invites the more skeptics to follow.
More measures to come
Besides this label, Christian Estrosi plans to intensify awareness campaigns urging residents of Nice to get vaccinated. Additionally, starting from 9 PM, police forces will be mobilized to rein in those who do not respect health measures. For the Mayor, wearing a mask will once again be mandatory outdoors under certain conditions that he will enumerate in the coming days. He also insists on the prohibition of gatherings in certain areas. The aim is to make the PACA region as “safe” as possible.
