A ceremony took place this Friday, September 16, at the Palace of the Kings of Sardinia, to confer the insignia of Knight of the National Order of Merit. The individuals designated are Germaine Leclerc and Luc Thevenon. Charles Ange Ginésy, President of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, presided over this event.
Also present were Gaëlle Frontoni, Vice-President of the Department in charge of memory, cultural heritage, and veterans; Auguste Vérola, Vice-President of the Department in charge of culture and children; Bernard Asso and Pierrette Alberici, Departmental Advisors.
Germaine Leclerc
A university doctor and specialist in primitive Nice painters, she is also an associate professor of Italian. Passionate about Italian literature, she is rewarded for her research and publications on the primitive Nice painters of the 15th and 16th centuries. She has been very committed to her research on Louis Bréa. Thus, she is part of the Bréa circle, aiming to raise awareness of this artist, a pioneer of Nice’s religious art.
Luc Thevenon
A researcher, museum curator, and author, he specializes in the urban development of Nice. He is passionate about art history and the religious heritage of the Franco-Italian Alps, about which he has published numerous scientific articles. He has served as the Curator of the Masséna Palace Museum of Art and History, among other Nice museums. He is also part of the Bréa circle, promoting Nice’s religious heritage to the broader public.
