Man of words, of speech, of books, of images; man of action, free and inventive; man of poetry, as committed to style as to utility.
This is the portrait of Raoul Mille, who was honored during a ceremony at the Nice Book Fair, of which he is one of the souls!
Man of words, and a man of the French language. For forty years, that is to say since his adolescence, Raoul Mille has never stopped writing, and writing again.
He wrote novels, for which he was awarded and recognized. He wrote for print media, both daily and magazines. He wrote for radio shows and for television programs, both locally and nationally.
But above all, he wrote a particular history, one that is tragic, furious, and so gentle, of Nice and its County. And he did it with brilliance, with accuracy, with talent.
These days he leads, in the service of the city of Nice, the municipal policy of combating illiteracy and promoting books and has also taken charge of the destiny of the Mediterranean University Center, which has once again become one of the spaces where debate happens, on the national level and in all areas.
Moreover, he is the key player in the revival of our Book Festival.
Each year more popular, each year richer in thoughts and letters, each year more buzzing with ideas, exchanges, and debates, this event is now a national event, whose quality reflects on Nice and is placed, this year, under the theme of the French language, which remains the language of universal freedom, as evidenced today by the peoples who are liberating themselves and great intellectuals like Malek Chebel or Tahar ben Jelloun, as was also testified by Jorge Semprun.
