-Nice is the first city with more than 350,000 inhabitants to have implemented the “Pedestrian License” on its territory as early as 2008, with the assistance of the Municipal Police, the National Gendarmerie, and the National Education.
-The objective of this initiative within schools is to educate second-year elementary (CE2) students, in a fun and educational manner, on precautionary rules that allow them to ensure their own safety as pedestrians in the city.
Since the 2008/2009 school year, approximately 3,000 CE2 students are made aware each year of street dangers by the โSchool Environment Preventionโ division of the Directorate of Security and Protection.
Furthermore, since the start of the 2009 school year, trainers and teachers have had at their disposal an “Adapted Pedestrian License” prevention kit intended for use by children with disabilities, so that they can, like all their peers, earn the license under the same conditions.
