Ayloul: The New Jordanian Music Soon on the French Riviera

Latest News

In the emerging music scene, Jordan has several increasingly interesting players; among them is certainly “Ayloul” (which means September).

They are a group of musicians but also six friends, all from the Jordan University of Science and Technology. Young, with an engineering background but also lifelong music enthusiasts, these young people are undoubtedly a group that can be described as “committed.” Ayloul does not want to engage in politics in the strict sense but rather loves to play its role in society and in the contemporary world.

Amman, the capital of Jordan, is their current base and fully represents, with its specificities, the Jordan of today. A country rich in history, interesting, and moderate but facing all the challenges of a change stemming from modernity and tradition often forced to coexist, as well as the arrival of thousands of Syrian refugees.

Ayloul tells us about the reality of an Arab world in transition, with interconnected social, economic, and political issues.
An example is the song Bahr Mayyet (Dead Sea) which tells us the true story of a young girl killed in the Dead Sea by her brother for an “honor crime.”

Ayloul consists of Yusser al Zouโ€™bi (violin), Raโ€™ed al-Tabari (guitar, vocals), Mounif Zghoul (guitar, vocals), Maโ€™in Mheidat (keyboard), Hayyan Aliuqqa (drums), and Abedalfattah Alterawi (bass).

The group debuted in September 2013 during the “Amman Art Week” and is currently recording their first album.

Good news: Ayloul will be on the Cรดte d’Azur for a concert in the coming months.
