Surrounded by his physical trainer, Nicolas Maritan, and his coach, Denis Auguin, the swimmer from Antibes is preparing for future competitions, starting with a World Cup stage in mid-November, either in Stockholm or Berlin.

Today, his primary goal is the French Championships, which will take place in Montpellier in April 2009. This involves 4 hours of water training per day, six days a week, plus four additional physical sessions each week. This might deter many, but not Alain Bernard, who has insisted on swimming twice daily as part of his training routine, a requirement readily accepted by his coach.

Along with the fifteen other members of his group, the new Olympic champion of the 100m freestyle has begun a new season, which is expected to conclude in July 2009 at the World Championships in Rome. The hope is to achieve results as impressive as those in Beijing…
