Personalization, here is the keyword delivered by the Nice Academy. Its rector, Claire Lovisi, presents the coming year as yet another revolution in education and aims to improve the qualification level of students.

ecoles-cartables.jpg 360,271 young people will start school next week in the Nice academy. Graduating with a diploma is essential for them. The goal of improvements in national education remains, above all, to prevent dropping out.

The SIEI (interministerial system of information exchanges) makes it possible to detect students who are dropping out of school to offer them a path that personally suits them. This notably includes increasing the number of pathways.

Supporting the student

A CAP or BEP is no longer sufficient for good access to employment. Student support is organized from the 6th grade with homework assistance for 2 hours per week. From the 8th grade, alternating pathways are suggested to explore professions while continuing traditional courses. After the 8th grade, students can continue in the general pathway or opt for a professional discovery 9th grade. There is also the DIMA (mechanism for initiation to alternating professions).

At the end of the 9th grade, a core of essential skills is validated to provide children with the keys to their studies. In the 10th grade, since last year, just like in the 11th grade, from this year, a common core and options leading to various orientations are implemented. Any choice will be reversible. A personalized support of 2 hours per week is recommended for students to lead to a definitive specialization.

Renovation of the professional pathway

The other remedy for dropping out: the modification of professional Baccalaureates. Obtaining the diploma will take 3 years instead of 4 years. Following the implementation of some of these new generation professional Baccalaureates last year, the dropout rate dropped from 25% to 15%. Meanwhile, three new qualifications open this year with a CAP in automotive painting, an MC in decor, and a BTS in health professions.
