The Koné episode has come to an end. This saga had been ongoing since the start of the transfer window. The Nice striker had been given permission to leave. He wanted to join OM. OGC Nice was demanding 12 million for their top scorer. OM was offering only 8 million. Faced with this significant disagreement, Maurice Cohen even ended the discussions and declared that Koné would stay in Nice. Baky Koné expressed disappointment and reacted on his official website by criticizing the Nice management.

Another proposal from Marseille reached OGC Nice during the week. “It was long, difficult, and arduous. OM, OGC Nice, and the player made efforts. We now wish him good luck.” Maurice Cohen will not make any further comments.

The Nice staff is now looking to recruit two new forwards. The path leading to Michaël Pagis is dismissed. Maurice Cohen has confirmed his interest in Frédéric Piquionne but remains pessimistic: “A big club has stepped in. It worries us, but we continue to work on this case.” There will be no departures except for those sidelined (Job, Moussilou, and Barul): “There are a few options, but it’s the third market. They have until August 31 to find a club.”
