The trucks weighing more than 19 tons are still not allowed on route 6204, which connects France to Italy over 100 kilometers, crossing the Roya Valley.
The administrative court, seized on appeal, determined that the order issued in September 2017 by the mayors of Tende, Breil-sur-Roya, Saorge, La Brigue, and Fontan, which bans large trucks, is not unlawful.
Italian industrialists felt that this order penalized them and forced them to take the highway. Environmental protection associations, on the other hand, welcomed this decision. The Alpes-Maritimes prefecture unsuccessfully challenged this order in the Nice administrative court.
