Friday, September 9, the day of the christening of the Amiral Muselier pilot boat, an eco-friendly solution for the territory. The first unit of its kind, it complies with the regulations of the Emission Control Area (ECA) project. This project is planned for 2025 in the Mediterranean.

A true “Swiss army knife” for the port of Nice, this pilot boat has an autonomy of 60 hours and a pull capacity close to 15 tons. It is intended for its public service mission for the station’s pilots. It also assists ships docking at the port of Nice.

The eco-pilot boat replaces the Triton unit to better align with the regional and metropolitan ecological transition policy. With the Climate Plan “a step ahead COP,” 1000 km of coastline is preserved, with marine environments being the first concerned. In this vein, Christian Estrosi officially named Patricia Ricard as the godmother of this pilot boat. The president of the Paul Ricard Oceanographic Institute is deeply committed to the defense of the environment.

This pilot boat is named Amiral Muselier, in tribute to ร‰mile Muselier. He was the first general officer to join Charles de Gaulle in London on June 30, 1940. Renaud Muselier, the admiral’s grandson, was present at this christening. As the President of the Provence-Alpes-Cรดte dโ€™Azur Region and the Deputy President of Regions of France, Renaud Muselier is very touched by this homage to his grandfather.
