Monday, November 21, 2011, at 12:15 PM – Nice City Hall
Rudy Salles, Member of Parliament, Deputy for International Relations and Neighborhood Activities, and Philippe Soussi, delegate for the Union for the Mediterranean, sub-delegate for International Relations, will welcome Barnéa Hassid, the new Consul General of Israel in Marseille.
This is the first official visit of the new Consul General of Israel since his appointment last August.
This visit is part of the friendly and exchange relationship between the City of Nice and Israel, which are exemplified through cooperative actions and fruitful exchanges, notably with the twin city of Netanya and more recently with the city of Haifa, a member of the EUROMED Cities Network.
This is further evidenced by the participation of a delegation from the City of Nice in the 2nd Conference on Decentralized Cooperation held in Israel from October 26 to 28, 2011, aimed at promoting cultural, social, and economic cooperation between twin cities.
Barnéa Hassid took office as Consul General of Israel in Marseille last August, succeeding Mrs. Simona FRANKEL, who held the position from 2007 to 2011.
He joined the Israeli diplomatic service in 1995. Between 1995 and 2002, he held various diplomatic positions abroad, notably in Ivory Coast and Canada, then within the North America Division of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem. Spokesperson for the Israeli Embassy in Paris from July 2002 to September 2006, it was during this period that he developed special relations with French institutions and the local associative network. He returned to Israel in 2006 to assume the role of Advisor in the Internal Audits Division, until his appointment as Consul General of Israel in Marseille last summer.
