nissangels_chartres_2.jpg For this new LF2 match, Cavigal hosted their counterpart from Chartres, aiming to continue their winning streak that has been ongoing since the start of the season.

And the objective was achieved, with a fifth consecutive victory, with a score of 68-53.
The difference between the two teams was notably made on the free-throw line. Nice making a 24/30 while Chartres had to be content with a mere 5/8.

After a decent beginning, the Nice team saw their opponents take the lead with a three-pointer. Even suffering a 10-2 run in the process. This period of instability corresponded with the absence due to a bleeding injury of center Astan Dabo for five minutes.

More worry than harm for Dabo who could rejoin her teammates, score two consecutive baskets, and allow her team to be only one point behind at the end of the first quarter (16-17).

The second quarter started on a very positive note for the Azureans. Driven by Laetitia Guapo who blocked, intercepted, and scored a three-pointer, Cavigal inflicted a 9-2 on Chartres in three minutes (25-19). The visitors could no longer manage. Blame it on a regained defense that prevented open shots. Chartres had to settle for just seven points in 10 minutes, reaching halftime 12 points behind (36-24).

Returning to the court with more desire and aggressiveness, the players from Eure-et-Loir scored 6 consecutive points and were down only 36-30, forcing Rachid Meziane to call a time-out. Alice Nayo stopped the bleeding and allowed her team to finally advance in this third quarter (40-30). With Dabo out for three personal fouls, Chartres tried to come back into the game, but there was still a seven-point gap with 13 minutes remaining (45-39).
A gap that would even extend to 14 points, with a three-pointer scored at the buzzer by Isabelle Strunc (55-41).

The last quarter was anecdotal. Cavigal merely managed their lead on the scoreboard and rotated their lineup. The game ended with a score of 68-53, in front of a thrilled audience to see their favorites still undefeated at the end of this fifth day.
