The Cavigal vintage 2011-2012 was presented at Opรฉra Plage on Sunday evening. From political and sports figures to the prodigal son Xavier Barrachet, no one missed the call of this association with over 3,000 members and 13 sections.
Team sports got a fresh look on Sunday evening at Opรฉra Plage. Some handball players sported new jerseys for the occasion. The basketball girls, promoted to league 1, debuted a new name: call them “NISS’ANGELS.” This serves as a symbol for Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, who praised the mergers of different Nice sections in recent years: “The more we consolidate, the stronger we are.”
Among the basketball players, dressed in evening wear, Jeanne Senghor was particularly honored. It must be said that without their MVP from the final four, the Nice team might not have reached the higher division for the second consecutive year.
Recognition is evident with Laurence Laporte. The president of Cavigal Nice Basket 06 has a voice overwhelmed by emotion. Nearly a year and a half ago, when Cavigal was on the brink before the city council injected funds, she certainly did not expect such a destiny. She also does not forget to acknowledge the work of the coach, Olga Tarasenko.

The atmosphere was more relaxed among the handball players. Returning from Monaco, where Montpellier outclassed Chambรฉry at the Champions Trophy, the players arrived sporadically. Relaxed, they wore t-shirts with the club’s new-look logo, which not everyone agreed upon: “It looks like a tag,” dared one of them.
It was the first group outing for the 4 new recruits. Among them, Martin Cottare, who seized the opportunity to “re-experience National 1 level,” guided to Nice by an old northern acquaintance, goalkeeper Alexis Poirier. As for the ambitions of this club playing at the 3rd national level, they are to be defined with time: “We’ll first see how it works out.” This dรฉjร vu impression with the basketball girls allows dreaming of a bright future.
