nbc06.jpg Determined to reclaim the top spot in their group from La Roche Vendée, the Niçoises started the match in the best way possible, thanks to 5 consecutive points by Jannelle Bekkering. Upset by this failed start, the visitors woke up and delivered an 8-2 run against the Azuréennes (7-10).

A short-lived advantage, as Cavigal quickly took the lead on the scoreboard again (13-12 then 18-17). Defenses were tough on both sides. No one wanted to give the opponent an easy basket. Margot Vidal-Genève made two free throws, allowing her team to lead 22-20 at the end of the first 10 minutes.

In the second quarter, Nice showed its strength, stringing together baskets. Shenita Landry was the first to score 9 points in a row and grabbed 3 rebounds in 6 minutes. Then center Astan Dabo took over and scored 6 points at the end of the period.

The players from Finistère were suffocated and had to settle for only 8 points scored. So much so that at halftime, Rachid Meziane’s protégés led 44-28, much to the joy of the supporters.

At the start of the second half, the game was more balanced. Léon Trégor tightened its defense, pushing Nice to the limit of the 24 seconds. The Azuréennes’ first two points came after 2 minutes and 50 seconds of play, thanks to Alice Nayo (46-28). Meanwhile, Shenita Landry continued to excel, handing out assists one after another, allowing her teammates to shine.

A new two-point shot by Janelle Bekkering gave the Niçoises a 20-point lead (48-28). Then captain Marie-Eve Paget took charge and scored 7 consecutive points for her team (55-32). Finally, Margot Vidal-Geneve ended the quarter with a beautiful three-pointer (58-39).

The last quarter was unremarkable. The Niss’Angels added 17 points to their tally, while Léon Trégor scored only 8 again (75-47).

For their next match, Cavigal will travel to Bouches-du-Rhône to challenge Pays d’Aix Basket ASPTT, aiming to continue their impressive unbeaten streak.
