Big and small chefs, this contest is for you! Especially if your favorite recipe is pissaladière… Starting today, step up and try to become the “Chef for a Day”.
The final of this Niçoise cooking contest organized by the City of Nice, in collaboration with the Cercle de la Capelina d’Or and the Label Cuisine Nissarde, will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at the Palais des Expositions in Nice as part of the upcoming “Rendez-vous des Associations”.
Participation Details
All you need to do is send your application by email to cuisine.nissarde@ville-nice.fr specifying your first and last name, address, and phone number. You will receive confirmation of your application and a blank technical sheet to complete.
Then, send back the technical sheet of your pissaladière accompanied by three photos of each step of your preparation (dough, onion compote, and finalized pissaladière) before Sunday, August 31, 2014.
10 technical sheets will be preselected by a jury composed of chefs, hotel school teachers, elected officials, and members of the Cercle de la Capelina d’Or.
The 10 finalists will be invited to present and have their creation tasted by the jury members on Saturday, September 13, at the Palais des Expositions during the Rendez-vous des Associations. The 4 best pissaladières in each category (children/adults) will be selected to participate in the grand finale, which will elect the “Chef for a Day”.
For this, candidates will be subjected to a live public challenge (1 hour for adults, 30 minutes for children) during which they must prepare a surprise recipe from the “Cuisine Nissarde” labeled recipes guide. The jury members will then deliver their final verdict, considering both taste and presentation.
