Indeed, in our valley, there are two young people who make large heads.
In Sclos-de-Contes, “to have fun” is also the verb used by Marc Capurro to define the Carnival. From his childhood, thanks to his uncle Jean Damiano, Marc developed a passion for this world where “almost anything is possible”. At 14, he helped Gรฉrard Mari, his current boss, in making the floats. At 36, he builds his large heads. Jean-Pierre, Gilles, and Pierre have helped him acquire this expertise. It must be said that in this grand commotion, the know-how is shared and passed on to preserve the traditions of yesteryear. In Sclos-de-Contes, the carnival took place under the sun on Saturday, February 27. (See photographs at the bottom of the article)
In Chรขteauneuf-Villevielle, Sรฉbastien Dalbรฉra, 25 years old, president of the “Casternou en festa” association, was introduced to the world of carnivals at age 12. His references, the “Maison du Carnaval”, the Belgrano family, Gilles Lombard, and Patrick Trimarco, have enabled him to conquer the world of large heads. At first, he was content to create his works in miniature. Then, the day the doors of his workshop opened, his large heads grew in stature, reaching up to 2.5 meters. Then the costumes made by his grandmother would clothe his creations. By organizing the carnival in his town, Sรฉbastien aims to perpetuate the tradition of a colorful celebration where people have fun in complete safety.
