Benoît Kandel and Denise Fabre (UMP) win the 12th district of Nice.

Some believed until the last minute in a possible turnaround. A possible victory for Frédérique Grégoire Concas, the left-wing candidate from Nice, as the endorsements and voting directives from those who lost in the first round called to oppose the current city majority.

However, the ballot boxes decided otherwise and it’s not really a big surprise. Benoît Kandel and his deputy Denise Fabre have won a seat in the General Council. This is the former seat of Patrick Allemand, who resigned a few weeks ago due to holding multiple offices. Thus, the 12th district has now shifted to the right, with 59.29% of the votes for Christian Estrosi’s candidate, who is none other than his first deputy.

Frédérique Grégoire Concas (Candidate of Union and Rallying – PS – MRC – PRG – MEI) garnered 40.76% of the votes. Therefore, the Nice left now holds only 5 districts in the Alpes-Maritimes department.

As for the new General Councilor, Benoît Kandel, he will officially be welcomed by the President of the Alpes-Maritimes General Council, Mr. Eric Ciotti, on Monday, May 11 at 10 a.m., within the hemicycle of the departmental assembly.
