jpg_P7231005.jpgThirteen athletes will defend the French and Azurian colors in this great sports festival that is the Olympics. Leading them is Alain Bernard with his world record in the 100 meters freestyle and his fellow swimmers from the Cercle des nageurs d’Antibes: Boris Steimetz, Christophe Lebon, and Matthieu Madelaine. Swimming was in the spotlight during this presentation, as Camille Muffat and Clément Lefert, both members of the ONN, contributed to a selection that promises to make waves in the Chinese pools.

But the Azurian chances will also be out of the water with the neo-Nicoise Valérie Nicolas, who will guard the goals for the French Handball team, and the very young Alizé Cornet, who will have to play her best tennis to hope to hear the Marseillaise.

Other representatives of the Côte d’Azur will not be left out, with Nicolas Charbonnier (sailing), Hamilton Sabot (gymnastics), Vencelas Dabaya (weightlifting), Emilie Fer (kayaking), and Stéphane Clamens (shooting). The Azurian region will also be well represented at the upcoming Paralympic Games with Elodie Lorandi, world champion in swimming, and Damien Severi, 2005 French champion in cycling.
