Between fatigue and hallucinations, Noam Yaron begins the final stretch towards Monaco.

After more than 60 hours of swimming and 130 km covered without interruption, the 28-year-old Swiss swimmer has only about fifty kilometers left to complete his Calvi-Monaco crossing and break a world record.

On the evening of Wednesday, August 13, the counter showed 130 km. Since his departure from Calvi, Noam Yaron has not left the water, swimming for more than 60 hours. The finish line is approaching: he only has about fifty kilometers left to reach Monaco and have his name entered in the record for the longest swim in a wetsuit.

Morale fluctuates. โ€œThe worst day of my lifeโ€, he confided to his team. But his determination remains strong. He wants to shorten his breaks and move as quickly as possible toward the coast. However, progress is sometimes hindered by disorientations since the day before. Noam Yaron occasionally loses the swim line and drifts away from the boat. Hallucinations multiply: the sensation of swimming in a ravine or remaining motionless.

According to his team following him on the boat, the night was very strategic. The Swiss swimmer enters the Ligurian current, an unpredictable area. Weather models do not agree, and the outcome will depend both on anticipation and actual conditions. His team remains mobilized, ready to intervene if needed during these final critical kilometers.

A night of adaptation and continuous alert

During the night, hallucination episodes intensified. For safety, the floating light line was removed. Noam Yaron unconsciously swerved around it, forcing the crew to guide him back with a spotlight and foghorn. A weighted light line at the bottom was then installed, improving his orientation.

In one of his visions, Noam thought he was in a full-fledged swimming race in front of the entire city of Calvi and started sprinting. The team brought him back to his usual pace. To ease his pain and itching caused by the salt, an energy healer intervenes remotely, with the swimmer’s consent. According to the team, these sessions quickly reduce his discomfort.

Now in the Ligurian current, Noam Yaron is gradually approaching the Monegasque coast. Arrival is expected in the night on the beach of the Le Mรฉridien Beach Plaza, Princess Grace Avenue.

After more than three days spent in the open Mediterranean Sea, the prospect of seeing the coast revitalizes the entire team. The last kilometers will be the most monitored. Noam, for his part, keeps his goal in mind: to complete his challenge for the Mediterranean and the biodiversity he has been defending since the first stroke.
