This practice, known as phishing, leads to serious consequences for the victims. The goal? To encourage users to enter personal information and banking data to deceive them. And it’s on the parking meters in the city of Nice that these fake QR codes are placed.
Guaranteeing the Security of Transactions and Personal Data
QR codes with the message “Download the PayByPhone app” should absolutely not be scanned and used. Only official download platforms can guarantee the authenticity and security of the PayByPhone application. Applications like Apple Store or Google Play only should be used.
Each identified QR code will be immediately removed. The city of Nice takes this situation seriously. Those responsible will be prosecuted.
